Our History
In 1994, a group of motivated individuals who had made Las Vegas their home felt the need for a place of worship and practice of Sanatana dharma in their adopted land. They had already started meeting in small groups at different homes to conduct pujas and celebrate Hindu festivals. The small community established a non-profit corporation, The Hindu Society of Nevada. The Hindu Temple of Las Vegas was established in April 2001. The name has evolved into the current Hindu and Jain Temple. The 1994 initiative started to be fruitful when the effort and financial contributions of Ranjit Jain, Jaldeep Daulat, and Dipak Desai made it possible for the Society to purchase a parcel of land in the newly developing master plan community in Summerlin in 1997. The temple construction started in 2000 and was completed in 2001. Panditji Gopal Krishna Panchangam was the first priest to conduct various ceremonies at the Temple. The Navagraha Temple was built in 1997 and priest residences were built with generous donations from the Las Vegas community. In 2012 Panditji Brijesh Kumar Raval started performing pujas at the Temple. Panditji Vishnuvardhana Chakrapanachar started working in 2016 to serve the growing Hindu and Jain communities.
Now the temple management is focusing on converting the patio area into an events hall to celebrate weddings and other celebrations for the devotees, complete the pavement for additional parking and build a Hanuman Mandir.
The mission of the Hindu Temple of Las Vegas is to pass on an everlasting place of worship for future generations to understand Hinduism and Sanathan Dharma. This Temple of God will promote religious, moral, and Spiritual growth for children and adults based on Hindu and Jain Scriptures by celebrating Hindu traditions and preserving Indian Culture. We request and encourage each and every devotee to participate in and promote the mission of our Temple. Be generous and donate. Your donation will be celebrated for generations…..
